Wonders of nature

Great Lakes

Canada is famous for its natural beauty and the diversity of its landscapes, which include numerous lakes and rivers, mountains and hills, trees and green spaces, as well as prairies and wide open spaces.

But if Canada is known for anything, it is for its many lakes and rivers. In fact, Canada is the country with the most lakes in the world and is home to almost 20% of the world's freshwater resources.

The Great Lakes are a group of five lakes located on the border between the United States and Canada. They are also considered enclosed seas. They are:

Superior is the largest and deepest.
The Michigan is the only one in a single country (United States).
The Huron is the second largest in surface area.
The Erie is the smallest in volume.
The Ontario is the smallest in surface area.

Niagara Falls

The name “Niagara” comes from an Iroquois word meaning “thunder of water”.

Niagara Falls are located on the Niagara River in northeastern North America, between Canada and the United States.

They are formed by the combination of three streams of water. They have an approximate height of 51 meters. They are not the highest in the world, but their water flow is one of the largest.
