| TIME SIGNATURES |
Those two numbers at the beginning of a piece of music tell us how many beats are in a bar and how long they are.
BEATS We can feel the beat of any piece of music.
If you listen carefully, you can hear that some beats are stronger than others. The strong beat come at regular interval (usually every 2,3 or 4 beats) The strong beat is the first beat of each new bar. Listen to these rhythms. Can you clap your hands or tap your feet with these rhythms? READING TIME SIGNATURE There is always a time signature at the beginning of a piece of music.

that there are 3 quarter notes (or any combination of notes that equals
three quarter notes) in every bar.
