Animal Quiz - Tapescript
Unit 3 Page 34, Exercises 5 and 6
Janet: Hey, look Tom. There’s a quiz in this magazine about animals. Do you want to do it?
Tom: OK, Janet. I’m good at animal quizzes. What’s the first question?
Janet: How long do wolves usually live – about five years or about 15 years?
Tom: Five years or 15 years. Hmm, I think wolves live about 15 years.
Janet: That’s right! They live about 15 years. OK, next question. Which animal sleeps standing up – a cow or a horse?
Tom: Sleeps standing up? I don’t think a horse sleeps standing up, so the answer is a cow.
Janet: No, you’re wrong. Horses sleep standing up – not cows.
Tom: Really? That’s new to me. So what’s the next question?
Janet: Number 3. Which animal sleeps during the day – a hamster or an eagle?
Tom: Oh, that’s easy. Eagles sleep during the day.
Janet: Actually,
you’re wrong. Eagles sleep at night. Hamsters sleep during the day.
I’ve got two hamsters, so I know that. OK, question number 4. Which
animal has got bad eyes –
a mouse or a fox?
Tom: Oh, I know the answer to that one. It’s a mouse. Mice have got terrible eyes.
Janet: Yes, you’re right. Mice have got terrible eyes. Foxes see very well. Right, last question. Which sentence is true about mosquitoes – a) They hate water, or b) They’ve got teeth?
Tom: Mosquitoes with teeth? That’s crazy. No, it’s a) They hate water.
Janet: No, you’re wrong, it’s b) They’ve got teeth.
Tom: Really?
Janet: Yes, they’re very small, but they’re teeth.
Tom: That’s amazing.
