Good morning, afternoon or evening! 🌟

Carnival Week Reminder (No lessons)

Just a quick reminder: we have NO English lessons on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th, and Wednesday 18th (Carnival break).
To keep your English “alive” (and have fun), here’s your Carnival English Survival Kit (A2 → B2) — choose what you like and do a little each day.

🎭 Carnival English Survival Kit (Pick 3–5 challenges)

1) Costume Challenge (A2–B2)

Task: Describe your costume (real or imaginary).

  • A2: 5 simple sentences using I’m wearing… / It’s… / I’ve got…

  • B1: Add reasons: because / so / but

  • B2: Add style + attitude: It gives off… / It makes me look… / I’m going for a… vibe

Bonus: Record a 30–45 sec audio describing it.

2) “Carnival Photo” Speaking (A2–B2)

Pick any Carnival photo you find online (or take one in the street).
Use this speaking frame:

  • A2: There is / There are… + colours + people + actions

  • B1: Add Present Continuous: People are dancing / wearing / singing…

  • B2: Add speculation: might / must / can’t

    • They must be having a great time.

    • He might be dressed as…

3) Mini Vocabulary Pack (Quick + Useful)

Core Carnival words (A2/B1): costume, mask, parade, float, confetti, glitter, wig, cape, crowd, music, drums, dance, party, celebration
B1/B2 extras: costume contest, face paint, street performers, to dress up, to stand out, to blend in, to have a blast, to join in, to set the mood, to keep the energy up

Challenge: Use 8 words in your own sentences.

4) “2 Truths and 1 Lie” (Carnival Edition) (A2–B2)

Write 3 sentences about your Carnival plans/experience (one is false).

  • A2: Past/Present simple: I went… / I like… / I’m going…

  • B1/B2: Add detail + connector: although, however, so, because

Bring it next class and we’ll guess!

5) Listening (Your choice, 10 minutes max)

Pick one short video in English about Carnival (or any parade/festival).
Task: Write:

  • A2: 5 words you understood + 3 things you saw

  • B1: 5 key ideas + 3 new expressions

  • B2: A 5–6 line summary + your opinion (What worked? What didn’t? Why?)

6) “Text Message Roleplay” (Super easy, very real)

Write a WhatsApp-style chat (8–12 lines) with a friend:
Situation: You invite them to Carnival.
Must include:

  • an invitation: Do you fancy…? / Would you like to…?

  • a plan: Let’s meet at… / How about…?

  • a problem: I can’t… / I’m not sure…

  • a solution: No worries—let’s…

7) The 1-Minute Fluency Game (B1–B2)

Speak for 60 seconds without stopping about:

  • My best Carnival memory

  • The funniest costume I’ve ever seen

  • Why people love dressing up

Rule: if you pause, replace silence with “Well…” “Let me think…” “What I mean is…”

✅ Mini Plan (if you want it simple)

  • Monday 16: Pick 2 activities

  • Tuesday 17: Pick 2 different ones

  • Wednesday 18: Do 1 speaking + 1 writing
