Opinion Essay

Writing an opinion essay

This type of writing activity presents the writer's opinion on a topic and tries to convince the reader by providing reasons, facts and examples.

Tips:

  • Introduce each paragraph with a topic sentence, outlining the main ideas.
  • Write in formal style: avoid contractions, colloquial expressions
  • Decide whether you agree or disagree with the title and think of two or three good reasons to support your opinion.

Organise your essay into clear paragraphs.
