Tuesday 3rd April
- Speaking task: Monologue (part 2): 1'30" speech delivery using "work lexis learnt last week" as well as "2 learnt verb patterns you can find in the first box you'll find in unit 55 in the verb patterns handout.
- Verb patterns - Oral drill which happens to be far more effective and long-lasting.
- UNITS COVERED SO FAR from the Verb-patterns-in-depth.pdf handout:
- Unit 53 - Verbs + -ing
- Unit 54 - Verbs + to + infinitive
- Unit 55 - Verbs + sb + to + infinitive
- ATTENTION:
- Verbs like "agree", "fail", "succeed in", "look forward to"... are really useful and often overlooked.
- When talking about the world of work the "passive" is of paramount importance: "be paid", "be made redundant", "be promoted", "be asked to do overtime"...
- HOMEWORK: Try to overuse some of the verb patterns practised in today's class while preparing the draft similar to the one I asked you to do in today's class just jotting down key elements. It goes without saying you should later on try to time yourself and try to deliver your speech using the diagram. The thing is, one key diagram and then as many different versions of the speech as speech deliveries you give.
