Section outline

  • Claude Monet started an art movement called Impressionism. Impressionist artists studied the changing effects of natural light. They painted quickly and were not interested in showing small details clearly.

Monet used  a combination of colours. that create mood, or feeling, of harmony and tranquility. Different combinations of analogous colours create moods in a landscape.

He often  painted the same scene at different times of the day. The changes in light and colour made each painting look different.
