MINI PRESENTATION: EXPLAIN THE INJURY

Step 1: Form groups and choose a topic

Work in groups of 3–4 students. Choose one injury/condition from the list:

SKELETAL SYSTEM:

  • Fractured femur
  • Broken rib
  • Dislocated shoulder

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM:

  • Asthma attack
  • Collapsed lung (pneumothorax)
  • Airway obstruction

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Severe bleeding (hemorrhage)

NERVOUS SYSTEM:

  • Head injury (concussion)
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Seizure (epilepsy)

MUSCULAR SYSTEM:

  • Muscle strain
  • Sprain (ligament injury)
  • Deep cut (laceration)

Step 2: Research and prepare your explanation

Find clear and simple information about:

  1. Description of body system (Short definition and main functions)

  2. Injury/Condition – Describe the injury or condition briefly, explaining possible causes and rick factors.

  3. Signs and symptoms – What does the patient feel? How can you detect it?

  4. EMS response – What is the appropriate medical response for it? Which equipment would you use? Provide a step-by-step response.

Step 3: Create your presentation

Prepare a PowerPoint / Google Slides presentation / Canva with the most relevant information about the disease.

Your presentation must include:

  • ✅ Title slide (Injury name + group members)

  • ✅ Index (sections of your presentation)

  • ✅ Clear information slides

  • ✅ Images or diagrams (if possible)

🚨Important:

  • Do NOT copy and paste large paragraphs.

  • Use short sentences or bullet points.

  • Use medical vocabulary from this unit.

Step 4: Write 2-3 comprehension questions

At the end of your presentation, create 3 questions about your injury.

Example:

  • What are the symptoms of a heart attack?

  • What equipment is used for a fracture?

Your classmates must answer the questions.

Step 5: Presentation day

  • Each group will present for 3–5 minutes.

  • Speak clearly and share the speaking time.
