  • We can count them: one pill, two pills, etc
  • They can be plural
  • Examples: pill, tablet, box, prescription, customer
Uncountable

  • We cannot count them individually
  • They do not have a plural form
  • Examples: medicine, equipment, blood, oxygen, shampoo, advice

POSITIVE

There is a customer waiting.

There is some medicine in the fridge.

NEGATIVE

There isn't a thermometer in the first-aid kit

QUESTIONS

  Countable (plural) Uncountable
POSITIVE We have some bandages. We have some medicine for your illness. 
NEGATIVE We don't have any bandages. We don't have any insulin
QUESTIONS Are there any prescriptions? Is there any equipment in the ambulance?
