DESCRIBING A PICTURE PRACTICE

• When comparing your Pictures, talk about the similarities and differences between  them.

Eg. Both pictures show… but this one…, whereas the other one…

• Speculate about the pictures . You are not asked simply to describe what is happening.

Eg. They might (well) have problems finishing

       She is likely to / she’ll probably find it quite tough

      I expect/imagine she’s feeling a bit lonely at the           

       Moment.

• Use a wide range of vocabulary. For example, when speculating about people’s feelings, go beyond the use of simple words such as happy, sad or nervous.

• Signpost the end of your talk by adding a personal reaction to the pictures. For example:
  'The two people in picture two look like they're enjoying themselves but personally, I think I'd prefer to spend my study time in a lecture theatre where I'd be more able to concentrate on learning'.
