Bursting The Fantasy Bubble

I’m not completely sure when it happened, i know it was a slow decline, but i have been tracking the level of people’s perception of life for over a decade now, in my writing and observing North American men and women. The decline i speak of is the inability to not only accept reality, but to deal with reality when it hits them square in the face, and the most forehead slapping behaviour is the inability to see simple real solutions to problems – no strike that – people these days don’t even have the capacity to see the real problem.
It could be said that the bombardment of the technological age is to blame, that we as kids, or the younger generations are so inundated with media messages, gadgets, video games, and the internet that it is completely impossible for them to see reality for what it is. I don’t think this is the cause at all, but more of a symptom of the underlying problem. The problem is not being able to see the root of the problem and fixing it there. I deal with this mind numbing, frustraton on a day to day basis, over and over again. In the modern workplace, there are countless jobs, thousands of meetings, and a million little stop gaps to fix minor problems, these problems of course are symptoms of a major problem, that can simply be fixed with one simple solution. If you are person that understands what i’m saying, you are one of the few people not lost in the world of fantasy and fleeting desires.
I love to have a good time, i’m always doing it, whether i’m out with a girl, a friend, or by myself alone. I will always be enjoying myself, and yes i let myself indulge in some things just to escape into a fun time. But, during this time, i am in the same place as i am when i’m working, or taking care of business – that is, front and center, completely aware of what’s real, what’s relevant, what’s going on, and what it all means or doesn’t mean. People in their 20′s these days don’t have anything going for them, their lives are simply working, and planning every night that they can to go out, eat dinner with someone, go to movies or party, every night. If they are left alone for one night, who knows what will happen, their sense of self worth and entitlement plummet to the depths of hell, as their self perception rests solely on how popular they feel. They seem to seek no actual connection with anyone, but this isn’t entirely true, they’ve never truly connected with anyone, and they have nothing there to connect with anyone in the first place. Most people are placards. People sitting in seats of people like me, while i go to the washroom, to make the audience look full. Useless.
Dealing with problems, large or small is simple. Like i stated above, find the cause, and change that. Do not focus on all the symptoms and attempt to fix those. You look at how many special interest groups there are in the west, it’s ridiculous. These individual rights or problems you have are not the MAIN problem, they are symptoms of a system that no longer speaks for us, does things for us, or is relevant in any modern sense. The root of the problem is the system. Until you start all working together to fix the system rather than you’re special interest that you care about, nothing will continue to get done.
I used to want to fight this wave of foolishness, but you cannot fight if you don’t have soldiers. The people i consider friends, and special, are the select few, who don’t live in a fantasy world, but live in reality. They are the most frustrated people i have ever met. We are outsiders, watching in complete surprise at how truly stupid you people are.
